Words have always been my thing: writing them, reading them, and making them make sense. I started as I meant to continue from my childhood. I wrote my first story as an 11-year old: my English teacher graded it 21/20. I was hooked, and every photo of me as a child featured a book or a notepad as my constant companions.

I studied Classics and English at the University of Oxford from 2018-2021, where I won awards for my research and essays. I found that editing just fit me. It was there that I took on my first editing role at The Common Ground Journal, and had my first work published. This was my first realisation that words could be my professional thing.

Since 2021 I have worked on various editorial projects: proofreading and line for a CUP-published author and helping to developmentally edit LSE PhDs and dissertations, to name some examples. It was in 2025 that I left my communications career to take up a freelance Story Editor post with The Last Word TV, working on several documentaries, which has led me to now become a full-time, freelance editor across books, scripts and digital content. Alongside this I still write and edit my own work.

Editing makes all the cylinders in my brain fire. Every new project is a puzzle and an adventure: finding the right phrasing, spotting the errors, and developing the story – it’s all part of the fun. So is the learning behind it – I train with a Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading, where I am a member.

Last year I married my wonderful husband Sam – a golf professional coach – and we live in the South of England with our beautiful three-legged greyhound Delilah. On my days away from work you can find me taking her for a hop outside, reading Discworld books, or writing my own wacky stories.
